BPF will conclude this third week of its Season 44 performance schedule with a staged reading of Ink and Paint by playwright Danielle E. Moore. BPF Board Member Ta’Von Vinson will direct this performance.
Ink and Paint touches on the inspired-by-real-life story of some of the first women to work in the Disney Animation story department in the 1930s and beyond, whose ranks included immigrants from the U.K. and Asia, a single mother and architect, a record-breaking pilot, a concept artist, and Disney’s first credited woman animator. A madcap musical mashup of mid-century American history, the golden age of hand-drawn animation, and the wild, wisecracking women who fought tooth, nail, and paintbrush for their place in it.
Shayla Lowe – Grace
Terena McLorn – Mary
Tarita Turner – Sylvia
Jeny Dalrymple – Retta
Ruby Maghoney – Gyo Fujikawa
The performance will be hosted at the Eubie Blake National Jazz and Cultural Center, 847 N. Howard St, Baltimore, MD 21201 on Saturday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m.
A discussion will follow the reading and all audience members are invited to participate.
As always, BPF staged reading performances are free and we encourage everyone to attend and bring a friend to view the next of presentation of staged readings that will take place during the BPF’s Season 44.
